PRP (Platelet- Rich Plasma) Treatment

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment is a treatment that promotes accelerated healing using concentrated injections of a patient’s own platelets that have been collected from their blood. In this way, PRP injections use the body’s natural healing system to promote collagen and elastin production for overall skin rejuvenation and skin tissue regeneration.

PRP helps soften fine lines and wrinkles and can improve skin texture, thickness, and glow. This treatment works well for under or around the eyes, neck lines, and overall skin rejuvenation.

PRP can also treat and improve hair loss. Hair loss can be caused by a variety of factors, from hormonal imbalance to stem cell depletion or environmental and stress factors. Treating hair follicles with PRP helps strengthen the hair strands, promoting the growth of newer, thicker hair.

Your PRP Treatment with us

Our Cosmetic Nurse Injectors have an experienced understanding of facial aesthetics, anatomy, and injecting techniques.

Every treatment at Liberty Belle is customised. You will receive a thorough face-to-face assessment and consultation with your Cosmetic Nurse Injector, where we discuss your individual concerns and desired outcomes. This face-to-face consultation is the safest and most effective way to tailor your treatment plan to best suit your personal aims.

All cosmetic treatments carry risks. These risks will be discussed prior to the commencement of treatment. Our nurses utilise a range of techniques, and every treatment is carefully tailored to suit the individual patient.

What is the process of PRP?

After an extensive consultation, your Cosmetic Nurse Injector will take photographs before they begin.

The procedure is carried out in accordance with infection control standards and policies. Skin will be cleaned using a disinfectant solution prior to any injections.

On the day of your treatment, topical anaesthetic will be applied to the treatment areas and your blood will be collected. PRP injections are prepared by collecting a small amount of your own blood into a specialised vacuum tube, just like a blood test.

The collected blood is then spun in a centrifuge to separate its components and concentrate the platelets. These activated platelets are then re-injected through a fine short needle and/or micro-needled back into the skin.

What can you address with PRP treatments?

PRP is most commonly used to:

  • Minimise facial fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improve the texture of the skin
  • Improve the appearance of dull or dry skin
  • Rejuvenate hair growth
  • Soften the appearance of scarring
  • Improve the appearance of a crepey neck

How much does PRP cost?

The cost of PRP depends on the number and extent of areas that need treatment. Please contact our clinic to receive information on costs relevant to your personal aims and requirements

Why should you choose Liberty Belle?

We allow ample time for you to communicate your aesthetic goals and use our expertise to help achieve your desired outcome. The experience you have with us is very important. We offer various ways to alleviate any discomfort or anxiety.

The first step is simply contacting us to arrange your initial PRP consultation, where we will discuss realistic and achievable outcomes, and what to expect from your treatment.

How much discomfort is involved?

The area sometimes requires numbing with local anaesthetic to eliminate or reduce any discomfort. Should discomfort occur, it is only temporary.

Are there any side effects?

It is common to experience swelling, redness, and tenderness in the treated areas, although usually only for 24-48 hours. Some light bruising may occur.

All cosmetic treatments carry risks. Your Cosmetic Nurse Injector will discuss these risks with you prior to the commencement of your treatment. That way, you can make an informed decision about whether you wish to proceed with the proposed treatment plan.

How can I prepare for a treatment?

Hydration is important. We recommend drinking six glasses of water the day before the treatment and at least two glasses of water two hours prior to your appointment.

We advise that you stop taking omega oils and antioxidant supplements three days prior to treatment.

Avoid wearing make-up to appointments where possible.

If you have an active infection or virus, or are feeling unwell, it is best to call and reschedule your appointment.

If you are planning your PRP treatment around a long flight, try to have your treatment done two weeks prior to flying. It is ideal to fly once all of the initial swelling expected after a PRP treatment has subsided.

If you are prone to cold sores prepare for this prior, as PRP treatments (especially in the lip area) can initiate a cold sore. Treatments cannot be carried out if you have an active cold sore. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or actively trying to conceive, we cannot carry out a PRP treatment.
